Why does it Pain During Sex?

मङ्गलबार, ०३ असोज २०७४

Sexual pain can sometimes prove to be quite excruciating and difficult to endure. A normal sex life is the prime ingredient of a healthy routine. Sex is often considered as an effective stress buster and calorie burner which invigorates and rejuvenates. However, all these aspects can cease to be important if the episodes tend to become uncomfortable and painful.

Reasons for Painful Sexual IntercourseAlthough there are several causes which can be established as the prime ones responsible for pain during sexual intercourse, a great lovemaking session is also about the mind. It is very important to approach it with a relaxed and trouble free mind state, for optimum pleasure. Mental relaxation also helps in dealing with sexual pain related problems better.

Reasons for Painful Sexual Intercourse

Painful sex could prove to be a nagging problem for you and your partner. Therefore, it’s important to unravel the causes and treat them at the earliest in order to revive pleasure in your sex life as soon as you can. Some of the major reasons for painful sexual intercourse are:

  • Pain may often be a symptom of vaginal infections that you might be suffering from. When the penis rubs against the vagina during intercourse, symptoms of vaginal infection such as burning and stinging tend to intensify, causing enough discomfort and pain. Genital herpes which causes sores could also be one of the primary reasons for pain during penetration.
  • Vaginal irritation could be another reason responsible for painful intercourse. Many products which are typically used to stimulate the sexual experience can actually cause irritation in the vagina. Some of these products might include vaginal sprays, deodorants, gels, creams, and scented tampons. Some women might also develop an irritation for latex condoms and condom flavours. Excessive douching can also be held responsible for it. Irritation can also be blamed on detergents and deodorising soaps.
  • Another cause of painful intercourse could be vaginal tightness. Reasons for tightness in the vagina during sex can be primarily attributed to psychological factors. Sometimes when the mind is tensed or preoccupied during a sexual act, the vagina continues to remain tight despite enough stimulation. This leads to forceful penetration, resulting in intense pain. Vaginal tightness can also occur as a result of a potentially serious disorder called vaginismus, which results in muscle spasms and contractions during the course of the sexual act.
  • Vaginal dryness or lack of lubrication can also be one of the causes for painful sex. Lack of lubrication can occur if the penetration is attempted way too early without proper stimulation, or if the mind remains tense and preoccupied during the course of the act. Dryness can also occur if a condom is being used without applying a vaginal lubricator. Vaginal dryness is a common condition for women who are menopausal or fresh from childbirth.

Therefore, reasons for sexual pain could be many. But, most of them are curable or at least manageable to a certain extent. Seek medical advice for proper cures and remedies along with the right sex education on painful intercourses.
